Key takeaways – The first session featured a spectrum of perspectives on the legacy of India and how it has endured mutilation, nullification, or negation since colonial times. While scholars didn’t reach a unanimous consensus on the deterministic factors behind this distortion, one clear outcome emerged: the history of the past two to three centuries has inflicted profound psychological wounds on the perception of Bharat and Bharatiyata regarding their own identity and culture.
